The City of Ludwigsfelde has and extremely committed and successful policy regarding establishing new companies with a focus on research and development.
The largest establishment success is the new Siemens energy burner test center for gas turbines. The globally active company is investing 66 million euros in the research and development in the "energy sector - fossil power generation".
With the expansion of the company landscape here in Ludwigsfelde, with innovative and future-oriented companies and technologies, new, sustainable growth sources in particular are being developed.
Between 2010 and 2013, for instance, 50 % of 13 technology projects with a total volume of more than 8 million euros were funded. In the area of establishment, start-ups and expansions, 12 projects received funding totaling more than 10 million euros.
Innovation and knowledge sharing from research facilities are vitally important for the region.
Companies in the area develop innovation potential in cooperation with nearby universities and the universities in Potsdam and Berlin, the technical university and the FTI Engineering Network GmbH Wildau, the Federal Institute for Material Research, the Brandenburg Technical University and the Panta Rhei Research Center in Cottbus. In addition, this cooperation extends to research departments in the companies like the Gestamp Group's tech center or the different facilities in the biotechnology park in Luckenwalde.
